During a time when some airlines are closing their airport executive lounges to cut costs.  Los Angeles City Council has voted unanimously to force big box home improvement stores to build executive lounges for day labourers who loiter outside their stores:

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Wednesday requiring certain home improvement stores to develop plans for dealing with day laborers who congregate nearby in search of jobs.

The ordinance mandates that proposed big-box stores obtain conditional-use permits, which could then require them to build day-labor centers with shelter, drinking water, bathrooms and trash cans. —- Anna Gorman, LA Times

 How is it that people that have never had to make a payroll or grow a business; like the LA City Council or the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal think they can dictate to a business that has to and is?

I wonder if the business can make use of existing loitering laws to move the “day labourers” along? Hmmm.. probably against the poor things’ human rights?

Giacomo Vigna has threatened Ezra Levant with another lawsuit because Ezra critized  his conduct at a CHRT hiring. Not only has he threatened Ezra with a lawsuit he’s  making all his filings in Canada’s other official language French, even though he speaks perfect English. This is being done to add another level of costs upon Ezra’s already high defense bill. Vigna, Warman and Kinsella three small, small human beings.

Not content with making the classic Hitlerian mistake of fighting a war on two fronts. One in the East against the Soviets and in the West against the Allies. He’s now decided to bomb an entire city and its innocent citizens:

All based on this stat: 

Statistics Canada reported that Calgary has the highest rate of hate crime in the country, with 9.2 cases reported to police per 100,000 people. The national average is 3.1 cases per 100,000 people. —-CTV

 Wow!  A really horrific statistic as some of his commenter’s have stated. Well… since Ottawa  only has twice the national  average of hate crimes. I guess Dr. Dawg feels that that puts them in  the  “shit don’t stink” catagory.

All this bombing from Dawg based on a  CTV article about posts made on a white supremacist website.  Hmmmm…based on the histories of some of his fellow Ottawa citizens over at the CHRC I wouldn’t be too quick to assume those posts originated from persons out West.

Now that Ontario has declared open season on hate crimes. How long do you think it will take before a corporation public or private will have to run  an ad like  the one above through the government Diversity Blockleiter.

On the day that the Conference Board of  Canada gave Canada a D on innovation due to its lagging productivity.  Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley gets an A for announcing today that “We’re bringing Human Rights Protection into the 21st Century” by streamlining the  complaint process.

Since only 7% of all complaints are rejected by the OHRC the new process will bypass the commission all together and go directly to the kanagroo court OHR Tribunal.  Were no doubt there will be a 100 percent conviction rate.

Also complainants will now be given access to free  legal  advice to help them dot all their i’s  and cross all their t’s to again I’m assuming to ensure  a 100 percent  conviction rate. How can you trust a system were all  the power and resources of the state is given for free to a complainant? So a defendant can be prosecuted in a quasi-legal system were basic rules of evidence are not even close to being followed. No mention has been made about how defendants  will  be able to recoup legals costs if a complaint is successfully defended.  I guess with a 100% conviction rate that doesn’t need to be addressed. In a real system  of justice the defendant should be the one afforded all the resources and protection of the state.  But not in the human rights racket. 

The $10,000 cap on the  “mental anguish” award has been eliminated and awards for injury to “dignity”, “feelings” and “self respect” have been added to the Ontario human rights  law.  Which all means that there will be lots of money to be made in Ontario by the serial offended like the one  Richard Warman.

It looks like the CHRC has dismissed the complaintagainst Maclean’s which was brought on by the Canadian Islamic Congress.  The news release by Maclean’s does not explain the reason why it was dropped. So it’s any one’s  guess as to why.  I’m betting there will be a “If we coulda we woulda” statement coming out of the CHRC  soon (similar to Heir Hall’s OHRC statement after it dropped its case against Maclean’s).

While good for Maclean’s. I was hoping this complaint would have gone all the way up to the Supreme Court. We’ll have to wait and see what the BCHT Kangaroos do.  

Update: Deborah Gyapong reports that the commission didn’t “issue a Barbara Hall-ish drive by verdict”.   Hmmm…. The CIC’s response will be interesting.

Update 2: The CHRC’s Explanation

The Steyn article discusses changing global demographics and other factors that the author describes as contributing to an eventual ascendancy of Muslims in the ‘developed world’, a prospect that the author fears for various reasons described in the article. The writing is polemical, colourful and emphatic, and was obviously calculated to excite discussion and even offend certain readers, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

Overall, however, the views expressed in the Steyn article, when considered as a whole and in context, are not of an extreme nature as defined by the Supreme Court in the Taylor decision. Considering the purpose and scope of section 13 (1), and taking into account that an interpretation of s. 13 (1) must be consistent with the minimal impairment of free speech, there is no reasonable basis in the evidence to warrant the appointment of a Tribunal.

For these reasons, this complaint is dismissed. — Jennifer Lynch mob

My guess is that the real reason was that they didn’t want to tangle with $800 per day lawyers with half functional nitwits as complainants (as witnessed at the BCHRT).
